Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with the 37th National day celebration. Yesterday afternoon's ceremony took place at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong.
Upon arrival, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri, the Royal Patron of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association was greeted by Dayang Hajah Siti Hafsah binti Haji Abdul Halim, Chief Commissioner of the Brunei Darussalam Girl guides Association and Dayang Hajah Viviyanti binti Haji Ali, deputy Chief Commissioner of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association.
Also in attendance were Her Majesty's daughters and sisters,
- Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;
- Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.
The ceremony commenced with a mass reading of Doa Sayyidul Istighfar.
The recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah was jointly led by the association's Young Leaders, Dayang Nurul Fatin binti Abi and Dayang Nor Sabrina binti Ratna.
Three groups of readers comprising members of the Committee of Governors, Adult Leaders, Young Leaders, Ranger Girl Guides, and Girl guides completed the reading of 30 juzu' or chapters of Al-Quran.
The ceremony among other matters aimed to glorify the National Day celebration with religious and beneficial activities, instil a culture of reading as well as understanding and assimilating Al-Quran among the association members and simultaneously educate them in the spiritual aspect.
The function was also highlighted with a presentation of dikir Asyrakal, led by Dayang Hamizah binti Haji Tahamit, Adult Leader.
The reading of doa selamat was led by Dayang Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Abd Ghani, Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association Spiritual Commissioner.
The ceremony was one of the association's annual religious activities. Aside from skill development, community and cultural activities, the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association also actively organises spiritual and religious activities involving the members' participation at all levels.
