The Ministry of Education hopes that health conditions of Brunei's school community is at a satisfactory level. The Ministry carries out health activities to overcome non-communicable chronic diseases, and develop a school community that is healthy mentally and physically. In the Temburong District, the Primary Education Section hosted a Brisk Walk in support of the Schools Health Promotion Programme.
The programme introduced in 2011 has received an encouraging response from the school community. The Sultan Hassan Primary School, Bangar, is among the schools organising the activity for its pupils' health. It provides motivation and boosts awareness on the importance of health in combating the threat of chronic diseases. Among those taking part was the Acting Temburong District Officer, Awang Suhara Fadzali bin Haji Yusop. The Health activity continued with a 3-kilometre walk. According to the Acting Assistant Headmistress of Sultan Hassan Primary School, Bangar, Hajah Mardhiayah Hana binti Haji Nayan, Primary School Leaders Committee, JAPSER, was responding to the call from the Minister of Education to step up efforts towards ensuring a healthy school community. In this regard, the Health Activity Committee, AKSI will continue to hold health promotion programmes at primary schools throughout the Temburong District as in the other districts.
