Creative industry is increasingly becoming part of planning and policy formulation for many countries. Brunei Darussalam has recognized the economic and consumer potential of cultures as having high value-added products and services. This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam in his working paper presentation at the Brunei Darussalam National Policy Forum on Creative Industries in the afternoon.
Dato Paduka Doctor Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi in his paper entitled "Innovation and Creative Industries: A Trans-Disciplinary Approach in Higher Education" said Cultural capitals and creative cities has become the new password. Cultural activities have become an important element of economic regeneration. However, the development of creative industry requires a comprehensive and holistic approach in planning and implementation. The presentation of working papers is to share the journey that Universiti Brunei Darussalam has undertaken since 2008 as far as trying to support the creative industry within Brunei Darussalam. Among present those present was the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Paduka Hajah Adina.
