Among the roles of the Ministry of Communications in the growth of broadband -oriented business are to safeguard all the industry players as well as the public, to ensure that the passive infrastructure is providing a transparent price scheme to the industry players, to promote the introduction or start-ups of retail service providers, to ensure the economic benefit of the industrial structure is conducive and healthy and to ensure confidence in the overall Info-Communication Sector. This was said by the Minister of Communication, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah at the Launch of COMQUEST Sendirian Berhad.
COMQUEST Sendirian Berhad is a joint venture between a Sultanate of Oman based I.T products and services company, Bahwan CybeTek and eSipadu Systems which is a leading System Integrator and a hundred percent owned subsidiary of Telekom Brunei Berhad, TELBRU. The Ministry of Communication is currently considering the policy for nationwide deployment of Fibre to the home in Brunei Darussalam. To ensure that the policy, regulation and implementation are thorough, practical and feasible, the Ministry of Communications has been referring to international and regional best practices. It is in the best interest of the Ministry for the users in Brunei Darussalam to experience high quality and affordable broadband services, if not more, but comparable to the neighbours.
