There is a realisation that in advancing the healthcare services, what is needed now is an effective framework for quality health care which includes focus on international recognition and accreditation. Hence, it is imperative that health service providers instil positive and forward-looking mindset in the work culture, adapt and implement best practices which include in aspects of development and audit of standard operating procedures and practice of good governance.
The international recognition or accreditation signifies that the best possible services are being offered to keep the nation and the people healthy and drives health services provided through the hospitals, health centres and other facilities to continuously improves the quality of their services and patience safety. The Minister of Health, underlined the matter, at the Seminar on the Introduction of International Accreditation on Health care Services Through Joint Commission International, J.C.I.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan, further elaborated, the Ministry hope to benefit from accreditation particularly in strengthening the nation's health care system and services which contributes to improved health outcomes of the people. Such accreditation will allow the health service to demonstrate the value and importance of the Ministry's work and commitment, as well as the critical impact that it have on the people's health and quality of life.
Two consultants from Joint Commission International presented their papers which highlighted JCI is an international accreditation system that recognises the largest health care services in the United States of America. To date, almost 16 thousands health care programmes around the world with the mission is to improve the quality and the best health care systems internationally. The one-day seminar was attended by nearly 100 officers and staffs under the Ministry of Health with the objective among other to discuss the standards used in evaluating midwives and health services. In addition, creating awareness to participants towards the importance of having standards in providing services and daily tasks.
