In facing lifestyle changes that challenge the economy, info-telecommunication and globalisation, the community, especially youths and teenagers, have become a generation of consumers which makes evaluations through possession and profit, sometimes forgetting humanity in the context of offering help to their fellow mankind.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports spoke out this afternoon, at the opening of the Prihatin Brunei Youth Festival at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair said he was grateful that the young generation and community are well-schooled in the Malay Islamic Monarchy Concept while Brunei develops and progresses, as it balances material and spiritual growth. Yang Berhormat Pehin said the Prihatin Brunei Youth Project reflects the social awareness and responsibility of youth groups in Brunei towards their community both inside and outside the country. The Project is a platform with important components that will positively transform Brunei's youth. The Festival provides a platform for youths to get themselves involved in welfare and charity work.
The Prihatin Brunei Youth Festival is a youth initiative to expand on the concept of voluntary help with support from the Youth and Sports Department. The festival aims to collect donations for the Prihatin Brunei Youth Fund through youth-organised activities under the Prihatin Brunei Youth. The festival's 3 main objectives are to launch the Prihatin Brunei Fund, and organise youth activities and sports, including entrepreneurial activities. The 2 day Festival is open to the public between 8 in the morning and 10 at night.
