Efforts to raise general awareness on the safety of road users and reducing the number of road accidents in the country have been given greater emphasis through a 2012 Road Safety Roadshow. Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as the Patron of the Brunei Darussalam National Road Safety Council, consented to officiate the launch of the roadshow.
On arrival at the Pusat Insani Seria was received by the Minister of Communication, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah, the Managing Director of the Brunei Shell Petroleum Mr Ken Marnoch as well as the Belait District Officer, Awang Haji Harith.  The roadshow was organised by Brunei Shell Joint-venture companies with the cooperation of the Public and Private Sector organisations and staged at the Insani Civic Centre of the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre. The theme of the roadshow is 'MENYELAMATKAN NYAWA DI JALAN RAYA BRUNEI' or  "SAVING LIVES ON BRUNEI'S ROADS".
Her Royal Highness consented to officiate the Roadshow by presenting a 'Mock speed Detector' to the Acting Superintendent of Belait District Police , Deputy Superintendent Awang Haji Ariffin bin Haji Japaruddin. The roadshow is part of the effort to reduce the rate of accident which is the source injuries, handicaps and fatalities among road users in the country.
A total of 25 exhibition spaces were provided and participated by government agencies as well as related private sectors providing current information on the road safety aspects. There was also a safety-driving demonstration, safe driving procedure by using safety belts as well as maintaining a safe distance with other vehicles while on the road.
The roadshow also include a first aid demonstration by Fire Service and Rescue and the Brunei Shell Petrolelum Fire Services.  The roadshow reflects Brunei Darussalam's commitment in implementing United Nations effort to balance and reduce road fatalities across the globe by raising road safety awareness at national, regional and international level.
