The prestigious Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Scholarship was first introduced in 2005 to groom promising Bruneian students to be the next generation of leaders who would contribute significantly to the building of the nation's defence and security and vision for the continuation of nation the nation`s welfare and religion. The Deputy Minister of Defence in a speech during the presentation of recipients of the scholarship this afternoon, said toward achieving the objective, attention is given in installing the self-esteem of the student beside getting education from the best institutions in the world.
Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa also expressed hoped that the students who received the scholarship would bring back not only highly valued knowledge but also hold promise and responsibility of the nation.
A total of 5 students were awarded the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Scholarship and four students were awarded the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Scholarship. Representing the Ministry of Defence for the signing of the Supreme Commandar of RBAF Scholarship was the Permanent Secretary for Defence Policy and Development, Ministry of Defense, Retired Colonel Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham. Signing for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces scholarship was the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih. Seven of the recipients will further their studies at the first degree level and two at the Advance Education Certificate level. The signing and scholarship awards to the nine recipients was held at the Officers Mess in Bolkiah Garison.
