A Get-together ceremony themed "Jejak Kasih" or "Tracing Relations" was held last night for more than 60 senior citizens and youths and organised by the Kampung Lugu/Katimahar Consultative Council in collaboration with the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque Administrative Committee, Kampung Katimahar and a local Restaurant.
The Senior Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Awang Metussin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba, in his speech, expressed happiness at the aim of the ceremony for its significance and importance to two generations besides strengthening warm relations.
Awang Metussin added that the senior citizens will regard the young people as the succeeding generation in continuing their efforts in developing their respective kampung and community. And such a programme can establish warm relations between them. The young will respect and adore the elderly and the elderly too will continue to love the young. This is an important matter in the effort to strengthen the family institution.
Earlier, senior citizens and youth, both male and female, joined in the mass prayers and later listened to a talk delivered by an officer from the Narcotics Control Bureau. The senior citizens present were selected among those aged 80 years and above from Kampung Katimahar, Kampung Lugu, Kampung Batong, Kampung Jerudong, Kampung Kupang, Kampung Panchor Murai and Kampung Sengkurong A. The ceremony took place in Kampung Katimahar.
