His Majesty Sultan Haji Hasanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddien Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam this afternoon attended the inaugural obligatory Friday Prayer at the As-Saliheen Mosque at the Prime Minister's Office Building Complex, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Kampung Melabau, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Upon arrival at the Mosque, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister's Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamenteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin; and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad. Also present were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel.
Shortly after the arrival, His Majesty proceeded to the Central Court where His Majesty consented to sign the Plaque to commemorate His Majesty's presence. The signing was accompanied by
the takbir "Allahu Akbar.
The State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz in delivering the special Friday Sermon, spoke on As-Saliheen Mosque as another achievement of the country in propagating Islamic Syiar, with the leadership of the pious Monarch. Yang Berhormat likened the mosque as a rocket launcher with the rocket being the reading of Al-Fatihah. Hence with each launch each day, tens and hundreds of thousands of the prayer are raised to the sky to open its doors.
His Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses then joined the mosque congregation in preforming the Friday Prayer which was led by the State Mufti. Also joining the congregation were Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries.
