Throughout the month of Ramadhan, most mosques, suraus and religious halls as well as private homes hold religious gatherings to gain blessings of the holy month by redoubling religious deeds. This includes holding Tedarus ceremonies where readers take turns to read verses from the holy quran.
In the Tutong District, women representing various women associations and kampung women bureaus and Mosque Muslimas, do not want to miss the opportunity to enhance their religious deeds in his holy month.
The practice of Bertedarus from house to house is conduct by turns, towards glorifying the homes of their respective association members, besides further refining their quran-reading quality. Bertedarus or Reading Al-Quran by turns from the First Juz or chapter, up to the 30th Juz, is a practice encouraged by Islam and the best sunnah to be conducted not only during the month of Ramadhan, but also throughout the year for those who have the time. Reading Al-Quran also has many advantages; it is a way of cleansing one's soul as had been practised by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. himself.
