Islamic religion encourages its followers to always practise the giving of alms because the benefit are far more greater in the fasting month of Ramadan. Giving alms does not mean that the fortune that we already own will decrease; instead Allah the Almighty will multiply them back in return. In this juncture various organisations and individuals are offering alms throughout the month of Ramadan.
In Temburong district a delegation from the the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD this morning visited 25 families who are considered less fortunate and donated household necessities. The move was coordinated under the 2012 BIBD Sirah charity programme in providing help to selected families.
According to the Head of Social Responsibility Committee, BIBD, Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohamad Jaafar, this is third such project being conducted by the BIBD with the purpose of involving members of its working staff in social building activities. Its also to ensure that other corporate sectors and Non-Government Organisation will jointly make social and charity contributions to the community and this should not confine to Ramadan or Hari Raya season.
