Efforts are being made in holding Al-Quran and Muqaddam reading classes from the early stage to produce youth and children who are well-versed in Quran reading. It is hoped that with such efforts, the country's aspiration towards becoming a Nation of Zikir will be achieved.
The community is reminded that efforts towards achieving the desired goal, should not depend entirely on schools, but also need to be implemented privately. Parents also play an important role in ensuring that their childran are actively and seriously learning Quran-reading and taking part in religious activities.
An officer at one of the Al-Quran classes said that Al-Quran reading can be taught either formally at school or informally at home and mosques. Children should always be encouraged to be actively involved in religious activities such as taking part in Memorising Al-Quran Competitions and Al-Quran Literacy programmes, and attending religious gatherings such as Bertahlil and Reading of Surah Yaasin. Such religious activities can also be held at home with the family, especially on Friday eve. Now, with the use of ICT, the Quran can also be learnt via the internet. All available methods of learning the Al-Quran are useful and important in support of the concept of a Zikir Nation as well as in producing a holistic generation that is pious and highly educated, with noble moral values. Such efforts are also vital towards achieving the Nation's Vision 2035.
The community has become increasingly aware of the importance of education and the knowledge in Quran-reading. It is not focused solely on children, but also on adults. Nowadays, even parents and other adults find teachers to teach or guide them in Quran-reading privately. With the attentiveness and dedication of the teachers, parents and guardians in ensuring the students' development in learning Al-Quran from their early age, the aspiration to make Brunei Darussalam a Nation of Zikir can be achieved.
