Brunei Darussalam celebrates Hari Raya Aidilfitri tomorrow. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a Titah, has reminded muslims in the country to be grateful in whatever the situation - whether it is in happiness or in hardship. Â
According to His Majesty, both have their respective meaning, which is determined by Allah the Al-Mighty, and every intention that comes from Allah the Al-Mighty is one of goodness. His Majesty was speaking to the nation via radio and television in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilftiri 1433 Hijrah / 2012 celebration this evening. His Majesty said that after being grateful for having successfully completed a month-long pious act of fasting, muslims may now also be grateful for being able to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The act of being grateful, His Majesty said, is by glorifying Allah the Al-Mighty. His Majesty pointed that such is the beauty of Islam which is constantly adorned by gratefulness and by glorifying Allah the Al-Mighty.
Titah 1
"Muslims must never cease from being grateful and must never shy away from exalting Allah The Almighty. No matter what the situation is, happiness or hardship, we are obligated to be grateful. Because happiness and hardship each has its own intention, which is determined by Allah The Almighty. Every intention that comes from Allah the Almighty is indeed a goodness and it is called wellbeing. The intention of happiness may well be to delight the hearts of those who have been granted happiness, whereas the intention of hardship is more toward providing lessons, but both lead to wellbeing. It is not necessarily all that we like are good, and what we dislike are not good. This has been emphasised by Allah The Almighty in surah Al-Baqarah verse 216, which interprets: "... and you may deplore something although that something is good for you. And also perhaps you may like something although that something is bad for you. And (remember) only Allah The Almighty knows (all these) while you do not."
