In celebrating Hari Raya Aidifitri, the practise of visiting the homes of family members and friends is a praiseworthy attitude as it further strengthens familial ties.
The skies of Brunei Darussalam resounded with the takbir raya or praise to Allah the Almighty's greatness on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The festive period is also an opportunity to forge closer relations with family members near and far as well as asking for forgiveness from one another. During Hari Raya Aidilfitri various delicacies are served to the guests. Recently His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in his titah has granted that as of this year, 1433 Hijrah, the public holiday for the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration is extended to three days instead of two days normally. With the additional day muslims in the country have the opportunity to celebrate the festivities with their family in goodwill and harmony.
The concept of open houses has long been a traditional practises every Hari Raya. The celebration is also incomplete without a variety of delicacies. At the open house of Dayang Hajah Norsinah bte Haji Tuah in Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, the food served differs from last year's as this year it uses an arabic concept. During Hari Raya Aidilfitri, children are the ones who enjoy the celebration the most as they wear new clothes as well as receive Hari Raya money.
