Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad, BGC had entered into an agreement for the construction of a new LNG Vessel with Hyundai Heavy Industries Limited of the Republic of Korea and Financing agreements with both local and international financial institutions. at the Signing Ceremony for Shipbuilding Contract and Financing Agreements for Construction of one new LNG Vessel, this morning, said that the signing is very important to the country as it signifies many other additional achievements and creates new opportunities for Brunei Darussalam's shipping industry and oil and gas industry as a whole.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin also said, the building of the fourth LNG Vessel demonstrates the Nation's commitment to uphold the excellent record in the delivery of its precious commodity, liquefied natural gas, LNG, safely and reliably.

Signing the Shipbuilding Contract Hull No 2606, was the Managing Director of Brunei Gas Carrier Sendirian Berhad, Awang Mohamad bin Haji Awang Damit, while the Hyundai Heavy Industry Limited was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Oi-Hyun Kim. The Time Charter Agreement with Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad was signed by the Managing Director of Brunei Gas Carrier Sendirian Berhad, Awang Mohamad bin Haji Awang Damit, with the Managing Director who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo.
The Managing Director of Brunei Gas Carriers, Awang Mohamad bin Haji Awang Damit also signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Refinancing of S.S Abadi and the Memorandum of Understanding for Financing of Hull Number 2606 with the Managing Director of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, Mr Javed Ahmad. Meanwhile signing on behalf of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited was the General Manager of Structural Finance Department Europe Division, Mr Masaaki Sasi; while HSBC was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Vincent Ho and Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ, Malaysia Berhad was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Masato Nakamura. The signings were witnessed by the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister Office. The new LNG Vessel with the capacity for 154 thousand 800 cubic metres of cargo, will be the fourth to be bulit by Brunei Gas Carriers and is expected to be delivered in October 2014.
