Preparations are actively being carried out for the final of the National Level Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1433 Hijrah/2012 scheduled for early next month. In the afternoon, a full dress rehearsal was held at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Present to observe the rehearsal was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Abdul Aziz. 12 participants will present their readings at the final of the competition. According to the joint-secretary of the competition's committee, Awang Haji Mail bin Besar, this year's competition will be held for three consecutive nights compared to previous years of only two consecutive nights. He added that by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, from this year onwards, the competition will be held for three consecutive nights. This year's competition is from the 1st to the 3rd of May.
The competition is hoped to provide exposure and experience to al-Quran readers in the country in motivating them towards achieving a better performance in the future apart from producing talented qaris and qariahs with the potential to represent Brunei Darussalam at the International Al-Quran Reading Competition. This year's theme is 'Al-Quran the Guidance for Individual Perfection'.
