His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam in the morning received the call by the 14th Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Al-Mu'tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Badlishah and Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, who are in the country for a 3-day State Visit.
An official welcoming ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman. School students lined the roadsides leading to Istana Nurul Iman waving miniature national flags of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia. Present to accompany Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong from the hotel of residence to Istana Nurul Iman was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddien Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah. Also accompanying were His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, as members of the Royal Family in Attendance.
At Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri consented to welcome Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Mu'tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah. Shortly after the arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty together with Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong went up the Royal Dais to receive the Royal Salute, which was followed by the national anthems of both countries and a 21-gun salute.
His Majesty and Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong then inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by the Royal Brunei Land Forces. Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Mu'tasimu Billah Muhibuddin Tuanku Al-Haj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, was intalled at the 17th Yang DiPertuan Agong in a glorious ceremony on the 11th of April this year.
Relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia have long existed, based on mutual understanding and strengthened with the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1984 after Brunei Darussalam achieved full independence. Relations between the two countries were further strengthened with exchange of visits between leaders of both nations. Bilateral cooperation between the two sides became closer with the signing of memoranda of understanding in various fields. Such cooperation continued to be enhanced through the establishment of annual consultations between the two countries towards enhancing bilateral cooperation besides discussing matters of mutual interest.
Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong consented to receive a bouquet of flowers presented His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel. Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong also consented to receive a bouquet of flowers presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.
Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong were then introduced to the members of the Royal Family. Also present were the Speaker of the Legislative Council; Cabinet Ministers; members of the Privy Council; Deputy Ministers; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Commissioner of Police; Foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam; members of the Legislative Council; as well as Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
In return, members of delegation of Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong was then introduced to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri..

Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong is the 27th Sultan of Kedah, and was installed as the 5th Yang DiPertuan Agong in 1970, during the Premiership of Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak. Seri Paduka Baginda is the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Petuan Agong to be installed for the second time. As two countries with many similarities, Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia place great importance on maintaining and enhancing strong ties and cooperation between both countries and the citizens.
