Brunei Darussalam gives priority to the importance of protecting the nation's cultural diversification. The Brunei Darussalam Cultural Diversification is based on the 1961 National Registration Act. The Cultures of seven ethnic races in this country contribute to the Brunei cultural diversification. This is further enchanced in the Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB Philosophy.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair clarified on the matter at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Forum On Cultural Diversification in Dhaka, Bangladesh. According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, as part of the ASEAN organisation, Brunei Darussalam has also made efforts towards encouraging and protecting diversification of cultural expressions through establishment of multi-lateral cooperation under the ASEAN Declaration On Cultural Diversification 2011 with the slogan, "Solidarity In Diversification."
Yang Berhormat Pehin also said that ASEAN shares many common heritages, histories and cultures. Meanwhile, under the ASEAN Socio-Cultural banner, ASEAN is also working towards empowering culture and make it as a catalyst to encourage unity, understanding and cooperation among ASEAN member nations and people, to achieve the objective to establish ASEAN Community 2015. Brunei and Asean are also working closely with its dialogue partners including ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-China and ASEAN-Korea in the field of Culure. The Forum aimed to encourage endorsement of more Asia-Pacific nations through exchange of experience among participating countries including information on the benefit of becoming a member nation.
Meanwhile, in a separate function, Yang Berhormat Pehin also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mohamad Ahad Ali Sarkar. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views and ideas on cooperation in the field of Youth and Sports.
