His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in his titah expressed Brunei's commitment in maintaining regional peace and stability. His Majesty also said that Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines work closely in realising ASEAN's vision of a community.  The Monarch made the titah last night at a State Banquet held in honour of His Majesty's state visit to the Republic of the Philippines. The State Banquet was held at the Malacañan palace and was hosted by His Excellency Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines. His Majesty in his titah acknowledged the role of the 23,000 Filipino nationals working in Brunei Darussalam in making significant contributions to Brunei Darussalam's socio-economic development. His Majesty expressed confidence that economic ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines will continue to progress to create a more conducive environment for business people to network and collaborate in areas such as halal and agro-based industries.

Yesterday, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces visited Air Force City Clark, Pampanga in the Philippines.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Deputy Sultan, and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab-Rahaman yesterday afternoon watched the 25th Brunei Age Group Swimming Championship. The championship took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex Swimming Pool in Berakas.

The Brunei Darussalam Former Soldiers Association celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a reading of Surah Yasin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi Waddien; and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit. The function took place yesterday at the Royal Mausoleum in the capital.

The government is always taking measures to prepare the country's intending pilgrims with knowledge pertaining to the haj so that they are physically and mentally prepared before performing the religious act. At the moment, 1,000 intending pilgrims for this year's haj season attended a guidance course as preparation before departing for the Holy Land. The Haj Guidance course is held simultaneously in all 4 districts since the 16th of April, and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

The Karnival Kembara Islam or Islamic Adventure Carnival 1438 Hijrah is taking place at Hua Ho Manggis Ballroom.  It is organised by the Brunei-Muara District Office with the cooperation of Battle Pro Marketing and Management Services in conjunction with the Isra' Mi'raj celebration and as a way of upholding the titah of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to transform the country into a Zikir Nation. The Islamic carnival was launched yesterday by Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Awang Ahmad, Member of the Legislative Council.

The training they undergo can transform recruits into individuals who are more disciplined, responsible, trustworthy, possess integrity and strong patriotic spirit based on the true Bruneian values.  The remarks were made by Awang Haji Muhd Lutfi bin Abdullah, the Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Development during a Basic Military Training Passing Out Ceremony for the 158 Male Recruits Intake of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces yesterday.  The Permanent Secretary said the recruits should continue to equip themselves with contemporary knowledge and skills, and should always be prepared to face any traditional or non-traditional threat.

Various activities and programme were lined up in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary of the Brunei Darussalam Former Soldiers Association. Yesterday saw a presentation of donations to 5 orphans of the association members. The function took place at Teratak Perwira, Anggerek Desa in Berakas.

The Senior Officials Meeting - ASEAN Ministers for Agriculture and Forestry, SOM-AMAF, and the ASEAN Ministers for Agriculture and Forestry, AMAF, the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Livestock, ASWGL, continue to recognise the significant socio-economic impacts of animal diseases as well as the development and implementation of strategic frameworks and mechanisms at national and regional levels. The initiatives are in line with addressing challenges that is affecting ASEAN and globally such as food insufficiency, effects on livelihood and movement of animals due to zoonosis and public health, international and regional economy and trade through harmonization of standards as well as climate change with its impact to livestock production. This was stated by Dayang Hajah Aidah binti Haji Mohd Hanifah, the Director of Agriculture and Agrifood at the Opening of the 25th ASWGL Meeting, yesterday.
