His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda says Brunei Darussalam has experienced impressive growth and penetration of Islamic financial services. His Royal Highness said that Brunei Darussalam, as an Islamic nation that upholds the national philosophy of "Malay Islamic Monarchy", aspires to develop a strong Islamic financial sector, not only domestically but also to serve the regional and global markets. His Royal Highness made the sabda at the official opening of the Brunei Darussalam Islamic Investment Summit 2013 this morning. It took place at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.

A steady growth has been seen in the Islamic Finance Industry in Brunei Darussalam. Currently the development of Islamic Finance is mainly dominated by the activities of the Islamic Banking industry which is estimated to currently account for 75 % of global Islamic assets. This was according to the Deputy Minister of Finance in his keynote presentation during the Brunei Darussalam Islamic Investment Summit 2013 which focused on the chronology of Islamic Finance development in this country.
