612 individuals joined the Khatam Al- Quran Ceremony in commemorating the 52nd Anniversary of the name change from Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan. The ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital. The ceremony which was organised by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, was a continuous effort to strengthen Islam in the country in line with the country's image of Malay Islamic Monarchy or Zikir Nation.
Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs. Participants comprised officers and staff from government departments, students from higher education institutions, private sector, group and individual.
