​The First Meeting of the 19th Session of the Legislative Council entered the 12th Day, 18th March, by approving the budget allocation for the Ministry of Religious Affairs amounting over 270 million dollars. Prior to approving the allocation, the council reviewed several issues raised by Members of the Legislative Council. On the issue of halal certificate and logo violations, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman said a number of initiatives have been carried out to address the issue.

This includes using SMS and letters issued by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council for halal certificate renewal three months before the expiry date. Consistent monitoring is also carried out through patrols, complaints and joint operations to ensure that companies adhere to the rules and regulations of halal certification.
