​The opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games Paris was held along the River Seine in Paris, France. Joined by more than ten thousand athletes from 206 nations, the highlight of the event witnessed nations making an appearance during the floating Parade of Nations on the river through the French capital.

Among those attending was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Brunei Darussalam's contingent, led by Dayang Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim, Director of Youth and Sports as Chef de Mission, consisted of three athletes, two officers and two coaches.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Yang Berhormat attended the 'Change the Game' Ministerial Forum at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, and the 11th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting. During the meeting, Commonwealth Sports Ministers adopted the 11th Commonwealth Sports Ministerial Meeting Outcome Statement.
