Factors that contribute to increasing mental health problems; holistic approach to well-being; and empowering mental health through internalisation of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam were discussed during the First Session of the Knowledge Convention Seminar, 1st October morning. The session which discussed the sub-theme 'Mental Health and Religion' took place at Dewan Musyawarah, International Convention Centre, Berakas.
Titled 'Methods for Managing Mental Health Symptoms According to Al-Qur'an', Yang Berbahagia Professor Dato' Doctor Mohd Farid Ravi bin Abdullah, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Islam Selangor, among other matters, explained the increasing problem of mental health disorders among individuals of various ages. Among those present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs.
The working paper titled 'Integration of Religious Perspectives in Mental Health Legislation: A Holistic Approach to Human Rights and Well-being in Brunei Darussalam' was presented by Professor Nehaluddin Ahmed from Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA.
Awang Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid, Special Duties Officer, Syari'ah Affairs Department presented the working paper titled 'Development of Emotional Intelligence Through Internalisation of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wassallam as the Basis of Mental Health Empowerment: An Islamic Psychospiritual Approach'.
