In the afternoon, the Knowledge Convention 2024 seminar continued at the International Convention Centre with a discussion on Mental Health and Youth.

 

In attendance was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development. A working paper tiled 'The Use of Social Media, Psychological Effects on Youth and Intervention Process: Research in the Context of Malaysia' was presented by Professor Dato' Doctor Fariza binti Md Sham, Director of Hadhari Islamic Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The paper among other things underlined the use of social media among the youth.

 

Meanwhile, Doctor El-Sayed Abdalla Amin, Senior Assistant Professor from the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University tabled on a working paper titled 'Towards An Islamically-Integrated Mental Health For Adolescents in Brunei Darussalam.' It discussed on the various mental health challenges faced by teenagers and adults in Brunei Darussalam.

 

Working paper by Doctor Shaheen Zinna binti Dato Paduka Doktor Haji Shaukat Zinna from the Psychiatric Department, Ministry of Health on 'Mental Health and Adolescence', shared on the role and support from parents, family and peers to help address mental health.

 

Whereas Retired Major Awang Haji Rosli bin Haji Bujang, Chief Executive Officer of EMPOWERIOR, President of PERKAB and Adjunct Lecturer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam presented a working paper that highlighted the importance of digital literacy.
