Islamic finance, with its foundation in ethical principles and equity, provides distinctive solutions to pressing global challenges such as economic disparities, climate change, and social inequalities. The matter was stated in the speech text of the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy at the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Islamic Finance Sustainability, ICIFS 2025. According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Islamic finance is not only a cornerstone of our national financial strategy but also a key proponent of sustainable economic practices that contribute to long-term prosperity and environmental stewardship. The conference took place at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hasssanal Bolkiah.

 

The speech text was read by Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Permanent Secretary for Vision at the Prime Minister's Office. The conference included the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding, MOU with key stakeholders.   Professor Dr. Mohammad Kabir Hassan from University of New Orleans, United States in his keynote address among others underscored the adaptive resilience and expansive potential of Islamic finance in the face of global economic uncertainties. Held for 3-days, ICIFS 2025 gathered distinguished academics, industry professionals, and policymakers, to forge innovative solutions and forward-thinking strategies for a sustainable financial future.
