12 individuals believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities in Brunei Muara, Tutong and Belait District have been apprehended in an operation dubbed 'Black Bull,' conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau. NCB.
NCB has seized 3 point 4-8 kilogrammes of Syabu through Operasi Black Bull which was carried out in January and February 2025. With the amount, it can lead to death penalty by hanging.
In mid-January, four individuals were arrested at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post for bringing in Syabu weighing 391 point 2-3 grammes. The group's main suspect was arrested through Operasi Bulls Eye in 2021 and is now on the rise after the fall of a syndicate busted through Operasi Tupai.
At the end of January, Operasi Black Bull arrested two individuals in Kampong Sungai Kebun and Kampong Mengkubau. The follow-up operation seized three packages which in total contained 3 thousand 87 point 6-8 grammes of Syabu believed to belong to a group of drug dealers.
In a follow-up operation in early February, another six individuals were arrested in connection with the network involved in drug trafficking in Kampung Pekan Lama, Brunei Muara District. The amount of drugs seized was not significant as those arrested were evaluated to be in a state of preparation for arrest by not keeping drugs with them. Overall, Operasi Black Bull has confiscated 3 point 4-8 kilogrammes of Syabu which is estimated to be worth more than 4 hundred 50 thousand Brunei dollars in the local market and can accommodate at least 34 thousand drug users. Also seized in the three operations were cash believed to be the proceeds of drug trafficking activities, vehicles and tools related to drug abuse and drug trafficking activities.
The modus operandi of the network of distribution groups is to use motorcycles registered in foreign countries to smuggle drugs into the country in order to confuse the monitoring of the authorities and facilitate the method of drug delivery to several places in the country.
