The Language and Literature Bureau, DBP, through the Language Construction and Development Division, this morning organised a Tamu Bahasa with the presentation on 'Etymology of Village Names in Brunei Darussalam'. Held at the Language and Literature Bureau, Berakas, Tamu Bahasa was organised with the hope of disseminating knowledge and raising public awareness that Malay language is the identity of the Malays.
Present was Awang Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Acting Director of DBP. The presentation, among others, touched on the origin of the name of a village or place, which reflects civilisation and events. Attended by 70 people, Tamu Bahasa was held in conjunction with Language Month.
