The Radiation Dosimetry Service Laboratory of Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA, which was launched recently, is the first national laboratory in the country established to support the monitoring and recording of occupational radiation. Operating under the supervision of SHENA, such a laboratory plays an important role in strengthening the country's capabilities in radiation protection and regulatory oversight.
The laboratory provides services to over eight hundred radiation workers registered with SHENA, spanning the healthcare, industrial and academic sectors.
In SHENA's efforts to improve the country's preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies, SHENA also established the SHENA Gamma Dose Rate Monitoring Station, which is an environmental radiation monitoring system that continuously measures gamma radiation levels in the environment.
