Brunei Darussalam has launched of the first large-scale solar-powered shrimp aquaculture facility in Southeast Asia. According to the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, the facility embodies a holistic approach that balances economic opportunity with environmental responsibility and sustainability. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin stated the matter at the launch of Net Zero AquaPV Project for next-generation blue shrimp and A.I intergration Hub at the Muara Fisheries Complex, Kampung Serasa. Yang Berhormat said the bold move was inline with the country's long-term development goals, namely supporting food security, energy transition, and low-carbon growth.
The project was co-launched by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, and the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The launch marked a major milestone in the integration of sustainable aquaculture and intelligent agriculture.
