In empowering the poor and destitute through the provision of knowledge and skills, especially in the field of entrepreneurship and business guidance, the Department of Zakat, Waqaf and Baitulmal Affairs, JUZWAB, has established an Asnaf Skills Centre. Its establishment aimed to guide the asnaf group out of the circle of poverty and thus be able to become muzakki, which is zakat or tithe payers in the future. The centre was inaugurated at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, 31st July morning.

It was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Yang Di-Pertua of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB.  Also held was the Signing of Document of Acknowledgement of Receiving Tithe Distribution for participation in the Entrepreneurship Skills Programme by the programme trainees. It was jointly conducted by the Asnaf Zakat Empowerment Programme Division with the support of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam. Also present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
