The close relations that have been long established between Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Indonesia, and the Republic of Singapore is hoped ti be further strengthened through collaboration in various fields. This was highlighted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council during separate Courtesy Calls to the Speaker of Parliament from the two friendly nations, and meeting as well as visit to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA. It was part of the Speaker of the Legislative Council's visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia to attend a Joint Annual Session at the Republic of Indonesia between the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Regional Representative Council of Republic of Indonesia.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council made a Courtesy Call to Yang Berhormat Doctor HC Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, and Yang Berhormat Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Singapore.

Also joining were Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council, and His Excellency Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council also had the opportunity to attend a meeting and make a visit to the AIPA Secretariat, and was welcomed by Her Excellency Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman.
