As part of the visit programme while attending the Joint Annual Session between the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, DPRRI and the Regional Representative Council of Republic of Indonesia DPDRI, the Speaker of the Legislative Council attended the 80th Republic of Indonesia Independence Day Celebration. It took place at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia.

The presence of Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib was at the invitation of Yang Berhormat Doctor H.C. Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia. Also present was His Excellency Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia.
