04/10/2025  Briefing on Addressing Human-Crocodile Conflict Issue

Precautions including avoiding activities on the river at night or during rainy weather were emphasised during a briefing and muzakarah session with villagers to address the issue of human-crocodile conflict in the waters of Brunei Darussalam. It was held at the Kampung Saba Religious Hall, 4th October morning. The session was conducted by the Forestry Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Wildlife Division in collaboration with the Kampung Ayer Zone 2 Consultative Council.

 

Present was Awang Reni bin Haji Yahya, Acting Director of Forestry. The initiative is an ongoing effort by the Wildlife Division, Forestry Department to increase public awareness of the measures that need to be taken to reduce the risk of conflict, in addition to the installation of crocodile warning signboards in areas identified as frequent locations for the reptiles as a precautionary measure.
