The case involved the discovery of a 25-litre barrel of lard, 35 packets of solidified duck blood, as well as 57 other types of food items with dubious halal status, believed to have been smuggled into Brunei Darussalam and stored at the T.T. Blues Cafe And Restaurant premise in Gadong. The finding was conducted by Enforcement Officers from the Halal Food Control Division, Syariah Affairs Department during a routine monitoring on 26th September 2023.
On the same day, the Halal Certificate and Halal Supervisor Certificate belonging to the premise were also seized. The Ministry of Religious Affairs emphasises that all restaurant operators and food service providers in the country must always comply with the stipulated halal certification requirements, besides ensuring that every food ingredient is syarak-compliant.
