Efforts to further strengthen the good relationship between the Legislative Council and the Parliament of Singapore, particularly in strengthening relationships and cooperation, were discussed during the courtesy call by the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore to the Speaker of the Legislative Council. Both parties also exchanged views and experiences on the functions and roles of their respective parliamentary institutions, besides sharing approaches in aspects of parliamentary management, capacity building, and mutual learning opportunities through the exchange of best practices. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, received the courtesy call from The Honourable Seah Kian Peng, at the Dewan Majlis Building, Department of Councils Of State, 9th October morning.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore was accompanied by Members of Parliament of Singapore AND His Excellency Laurence Bay, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore. Also present were Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council as well as Members of the Legislative Council. The meeting emphasised the importance of inter-parliamentary relations in supporting the close relations between the two countries.
