Creativity and deep interest in floral art were clearly seen at the Flowering Plants Competition and Exhibition. The event was in conjunction with His Majesty's 79th Birthday Celebration. Organised jointly by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, JASTRe and the Women's Institute with the support of the Festival Committee, it is taking place at the Menteri Besar Recreational Park, Berakas.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development. The competition aims to cultivate public interest in ornamental planting and landscaping as well as to raise awareness of the importance of appreciating and preserving environmental beauty.

A total of 13 plant categories with over 200 flowering plants were competed. The Minister of Development also presented prizes to the winners. The event is open to the public until 19th of October, FROM 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening.
