The event long awaited by all levels of citizens and residents in Brunei Muara District finally came when His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the Get-Together Ceremony with the Citizens and Residents, 12th October morning.
Brunei Muara District was the last district to welcome the Monarch for such an event in conjunction with His Majesty's 79th Birthday Celebration. Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan acted as the witness to the glorious ceremony. The excitement of the event started off with the waving of miniature flags by school students.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs; as Chairman of the Royal Birthday Celebration's National Committee and the Co-Chairmen of the Royal Birthday Celebration's National Committee.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brothers:
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;
- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
'Raja Penyayang Julangan Rakyat', the theme of the Special Performance combines traditional and pop music and dances as well as hand movements.
Participated by over two hundred participants, the special performance expressed the gratitude and joy in celebrating His Majesty's birthday. His Majesty then mingled with the performance participants.
