At the 28th ASEAN-China Summit, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah acknowledged the long history between ASEAN and China, including China as ASEAN's first free trade partnership.

His Majesty in the titah says the upgrade of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 will not only deepen cooperation in key areas of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, but also strengthen connectivity, drive innovation and promote inclusive growth which will support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises across the region.
