His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam this morning welcomed and received in audience His Excellency Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of the Republic of Singapore, who is in the country for two days to attend the 11th Young Leaders' Programme, YLP, between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore. The Audience Ceremony took place at Cheradi Ratna Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman. Also in attendance were members of the Royal Family.
His Majesty welcomed His Excellency and delegation. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present were the Minister of Home Affairs as Minister-in-Attendance; Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; Minister of Health; Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Minister of Development; and Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. During the Audience ceremony, His Majesty and His Excellency discussed matters of mutual interest to further enhance the existing bilateral relations and welcomed the exploration of new areas of cooperation. In this regard, both Leaders affirmed their commitment to uphold the longstanding special and unique relations between the two countries through, among others, currency interchangeability, defence and people to people exchanges.
After the Audience Ceremony, a Luncheon was held at Baiturrahmah, Istana Nurul Iman. Also in attendance were members of the Royal Family.
Doa Selamat was recited by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
