​Artificial intelligence, A.I has transformed the efficiency of screening system, reducing waiting times, enabling faster referrals, and allowing ophthalmologists to focus on sight-saving interventions. This innovation is improving access, accelerating diagnosis, and ultimately helping to prevent avoidable blindness across the nation. The Minister of Health outlined the matters at the Opening Ceremony of the 7th ASEAN Ophthalmology Congress. Under the theme “Vision Beyond Borders: Bridging Regional Expertise, Elevating Eye Care for All", Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar said that, eye care is not confined to hospitals or professionals alone, but a shared responsibility that unites clinicians, policymakers, industry partners, and communities.

The congress served as a platform for advancing vision science, research, and clinical practice across ASEAN member states. Also present, His Excellency Abel Guterres, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The congress took place at Dewan An-Naura, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
