The Narcotics Control Bureau, NCB through the 'Halloween Operation' raided a homestay in Kampung Tagap, Mukim Sengkurong that was used for a Halloween-themed party in early November 2025. 32 people between the ages of 22 to 38 have been detained out of 57 partygoers on suspicion of being involved in drug abuse activities.

During the operation, three types of controlled drugs were seized: 24.99 grams of Ketamine, 31.04 grams of Ecstasy, and a pill of Erimin 5. The drugs are estimated to be worth over $2,500 Brunei dollars in the local market, which can cater to at least 200 users.

Also seized were cash amounting $1,785 Brunei dollars which was believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking activities; a vehicle believed to be used for drug trafficking activities; and equipment for packing drugs such as small transparent packets, cuts of straw, and a digital weighing machine.

Aside from controlled drugs, alcoholic drinks, cigarettes and electronic cigarettes or vape were also found and seized. The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.

Through the raid, the NCB found an illegal gathering and social activities that violated national law and contradicted the religion as well as culture such as drug abuse, consuming alcoholic drinks, and immoral activities. Investigation found that the party was organised by one of the arrested individual who rented a homestay in Kampung Tagap for the purpose of organising a party by charging an entrance fee of $15 Brunei dollars, aside from selling different types of drugs such as Ketamine, Ecstasy and Erimin Five. Investigation also found that several of the detained individuals were graduates, and two of them were members of a uniformed group.

In this regard, the NCB calls on youth to always think rationally, and avoid social settings that can expose them to activities that violate the law and can bring long-term negative effects. Premise owners are also reminded to be more aware of the purpose of renting the premise or homestay, and ensure that it is not used for illegal activities. The NCB expressed their appreciation for the assistance and cooperation from enforcement agencies that contributed to the success of the operation.
