Effective tourism policies must be grounded in robust, data-driven insights to support more strategic planning, coordination, and informed decision-making. The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism underscored the matter at the UN Tourism Regional Workshop.

Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab also emphasised that  the use of measurable indicators will not only strengthen regulatory frameworks to safeguard against environmental degradation but also highlight the true value of social sustainability, economic empowerment, community ownership, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The two day workshop included a dialogue with technical and participatory sessions addressing the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of tourism sustainability.
