His Excellency the President of Hungary conferred 'The Grand Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit with Chain and Gold Star' to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, which among other things, represents the recognition and symbol of Hungary's commitment to continue working with Brunei Darussalam in safeguarding the well-being of the people of both countries.

The award is the highest honour from Hungary that has been established since the country achieved independence.
