In the swimming event held at the National Swimming Pool, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, the national team advanced to the finals in the girl's 50-metre backstroke, girl's 200-metre butterfly and boy's 50-metre freestyle categories, but failed to win any medals.

The Indonesian team dominated the 8 categories competed including the girl's 50-metre backstroke, boy's and girl's 200-metre butterfly, boy's 50-metre freestyle and boy's and girl's 400-metre medley. Thailand and Singapore each collected 1 gold medal in the boy's 40-metre backstroke and girl's 50-metre freestyle.
