The Nationwide Recycling Day by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, JASTRE is one of the main initiatives in the efforts of raising the community's awareness on the importance of recycling and sustainable waste management. The programme acted as a platform for the public to send various types of recyclables, aside from learning that many items that are often thrown away actually have value and can be reused.
In Brunei Muara District, the Nationwide Recycling Day was held at JASTRE's office, Anggerek Desa and 'Taman Rekreasi Mini Perayaan Kampung Parit.' The recycled materials were mostly papers, plastic bottles, e-waste, and used cooking oil.
The focal point of the programme in Belait District was at JASTRE's Belait District branch. The initiative was one of the government's efforts to increase public awareness and participation to practice recycling habits.
In Tutong District, the programme was held at JASTRE's Tutong District branch. The programme not only focus on recycling materials, it also aims to highlight that everyday items have the potential to be reused.
Whereas in Temburong District, it was held at the parking area of Muhibbah Recreational Park in Bangar Town. Apart from encouraging recycling practices, the programme also aimed to introduce recycling services available in the country.
