The 20th Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network, AsTEN held in Bandung, Indonesia recently, among others discussed agendas related to the annual framework and AsTEN initiatives, in line with the strategic direction of the network through various platforms of the association's member institutions. The meeting was hosted by the Indonesian University of Education, Bandung.

Representing Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB at the meeting and conference was Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra'es of KUPU SB, as Deputy Chair of AsTEN. The agenda for discussion also included the new participation of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD through the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, SHBIE as AsTEN Member starting January 2026 for a period of three years. The meeting also confirmed the Philippines Normal University as the host for the 21st AsTEN Presidential Meeting, in May 2026 and Kasetsart University as the host for the 22nd AsTEN Presidential Meeting.

Indonesian University of Education recently also organised the International Conference on Teacher Education 2025, ICOTE 2025. Among those in attendance at the opening ceremony was Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra'es of KUPU SB, as Deputy Chair of As-TEN. With the theme 'Reimagining Teacher Education: Equity, Innovation, and Sustainability', ICOTE 2025 focused and emphasised on various relevant scopes, including fostering innovation pedagogies and AI adaptability. The involvement of KUPU SB academics in such conference is able to bring an ideal mechanism to the research collaboration network.
