The Deer Farm owned by Syarikat Mohamad Norfaidzal bin Haji Zainuddin dan anak-anak has the potential to become a new agro-tourism attraction in the country. The farm, in operation since 2012, has been managed by a new owner for the past 10 months, with various improvements actively carried out.
Covering over 18 hectares, the farm has approximately 400 deer species from Sabah, Australia as well as small-sized deer. To ensure that the health of the livestock is always maintained, the Department of Agriculture continues to monitor and support the farm, specifically in preventing livestock diseases. The deer on the farm are given grass as their main diet, in addition to bread and rice bran for habituation and fattening purposes.
For now, the farm is closed to the public to allow for infrastructure repairs. With a target of up to two thousand to three thousand deer, the farm owner plans to sell the deer meat. Such effort is expected to create job opportunities for the locals and contribute to the development of the country's agro-tourism sector.
