Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB, established in 1986, continues to strengthen its role as a technology-based higher education institution in the country. Starting out as Institut Teknologi Brunei, UTB has now grown into a university offering a variety of academic programmes in the fields of technology, engineering, business and science.

 

Over the four decades of its establishment, UTB has played a significant role in the national socio-economic development through the provision of high-quality education, relevant research and the development of skilled human capital. UTB's continuous commitment has succeeded in producing graduates who are capable, competitive and ready to face current and future challenges. UTB's gradual development has also seen international recognition as a reputable technological university.

 

A multidisciplinary approach that integrates rigorous academic programmes with experiential learning as a side-line. This includes fostering a culture of innovation and critical thinking through research initiatives, collaborative projects and partnerships with industry.

 

In line with the rapid pace of global technology, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, UTB continues to be agile and forward-looking. UTB integrates new technologies into the curriculum while empowering the professional development of university staff. Emphasis is also placed on data literacy, critical thinking, creativity and ethics in the use of technology.

 

UTB's success in achieving 578th position in the QS World University Rankings 2026 is an international recognition of UTB's strategic direction. This achievement further strengthens UTB's role as a leader in the country's technological development and innovation.

 

Since its establishment, UTB has produced over five thousand graduates in various majors. UTB will continue to emphasise strengthening academic and research quality, strategic collaboration with industry and international institutions, and the application of new technologies and future skills in the curriculum. This effort is in line with the needs of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 2035.
