The enactment of the Personal Data Protection Order 2025, PDPO, marks a transformative era for Brunei Darussalam's digital landscape. It provides a robust framework of trust, privacy and accountability to encourage digital innovation. The matter was among those touched upon during the Personal Data Protection, PDP Conference 2026 organised by The Authority for Infocommunications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, AITI.  It took place at the Empire Brunei, on 27th January morning.

 

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocaommunications received the AITIPDP Essentials Infokit. Earlier, the Chief Executive of AITI among others, outlined AITI's new identity, which reflected its expanded mandate as the regulator for the postal sector and authority for personal data protection for the private sector. The presentation of working papers from regional experts touched on compliance to data protection regulations which serve as a catalyst for investment and development.
